Community Outreach
Our Plan
From neighbors to community advocates to local businesses, your voice plays an essential role in the renewal of lower Kinnear Park. Let us hear from you! Our Community Outreach Plan has goals and strategies to actively involve all members of both the local Queen Anne and greater Seattle communities. We want to know your thoughts, ideas or questions.

Survey Results are In!
Thank you to all 88 people who responded to our survey about improvements in the park. Four (4) areas got strong consensus: improve the trails, restore the natural environment, enhance the entrances and most of all provide a connection to the waterfront. These and the other comments will be studied by HBB Landscape Architects as they ready their conceptual plan for our next community meeting on February 25th.
Our Community

Park Users
If you use the park to exercise your dog, battle on the tennis court, or hike the trails, let's hear your ideas! We will be hosting interactive meetings to elicit your ideas and thoughts as well as adding new material to our website just for you. We also want to know what currently brings you to the park. What can we do to make lower Kinnear Park a more frequent destination?
Park Neighbors
Do you live in or around the park? We need your input! Email us or attend a meeting. Lower Kinnear Park is unique from other Seattle parks because some of its neighbors have homes with front doors accessible only by entering the park. You are the eyes and ears of lower Kinnear Park, so we need you to help guide us in the right direction.

Queen Anne Community Organizations
Are you a member of a community organization who takes pride in your neighborhood? Lower Kinnear Park is a vibrant asset to our community. Please let us know how we can help you make a difference that will both enhance the community and give your organization added visibility. We would love to speak to your organization about our plans for the park!
Property Agents
Are you currently involved in the Queen Anne real estate market as an apartment manager, real estate developer, or realtor? The renewal of lower Kinnear Park will add a safer, more attractive edge to potential renters and homeowners alike. Your success will help us reach our goal of bringing more people to the park. Let us know what we can do to help!
Businesses
If your business serves and/or resides in Queen Anne, we need your ideas. Lower Kinnear Park offers you the opportunity to take a break from work, stretch your legs, and enjoy your lunch; all in a scenic, relaxing environment. As an added bonus, the renewal of Lower Kinnear Park will attract more people to our community. As we grow, so will you!
Homeless Advocates
FOLKpark realizes that increased usage and improvements to the park may affect the local homeless population that uses the park. We are looking to partner with a local homeless advocate agency to help those in need of shelter find information on where they can go to receive help. If you have any thoughts or ideas on FOLKpark's role to help end homelessness in Seattle, let us know!

Seattle Parks and Recreation Department
The Seattle Parks and Recreation Department is instrumental to both the operations and maintenance of our park. In September 2009, the City of Seattle created a Strategic Action Plan designed to promote public input regarding the future of Seattle's many parks. FOLKpark needs your help in taking an active stake in the future of Seattle! Please let the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department know about your commitment to the renewal of lower Kinnear Park.
Department of Neighborhoods
The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) connects people, communities, and government. In August 2009, Mayor Greg Nickels awarded $1.3 million for large neighborhood projects. We have since been awareded the Small and Simple Grant, worth up to $15K, to hire a landscape architect to work with the community in drawing up a plan for the park. The funding is there, and we need your help to reach out and grab it! Contact DON and let them know that Lower Kinnear Park is a community landmark worth fighting for!

Seattle Police Department
The Seattle Police Department (SPD) has done an excellent job in making lower Kinnear Park a safer environment for both park users and neighbors. Thank you, SPD! The successful completion of this project will make their job easier by making the park a safer, more enjoyable place to spend time with friends and family.
